Carl Eric Wickman, the Founder of the Greyhound Bus Company

Swedish emigrant, Carl Eric Wickman was an entrepreneur and the founder of the Greyhound Corporation, one of the largest bus companies in the world. He was born on August 7, 1887, in Sweden, and emigrated to the United States in 1905.
Wickman started his career as a coal miner in Minnesota and later became a Hupmobile car salesman. In 1914, he started a passenger car service with his business partner, Swedish immigrant Andy "Bus Andy" Anderson, transporting iron ore miners from Hibbing, Minnesota to Alice, Minnesota. This service eventually evolved into the Greyhound Corporation, which was officially founded in 1926.
Under Wickman's leadership, Greyhound grew rapidly and became known for its luxurious and reliable long-distance bus service. The company expanded to other parts of the United States and Canada, and even offered transcontinental service from coast to coast.
Wickman remained involved with Greyhound for many years and served as the company's chairman until 1946. He passed away in 1954 at the age of 67. #entrepreneur #simplegears #amiralzubi #childrensbook #bus
