Cyrus West Field (1819-1892)

Cyrus West Field (1819-1892) was an American businessman and entrepreneur who is best known for his role in the creation of the first transatlantic telegraph cable. Born in Massachusetts, Field worked in the paper manufacturing industry before turning his attention to telegraphy in the 1850s.

Field became interested in the idea of a transatlantic telegraph cable in the early 1850s, but it was not until 1854 that he began serious efforts to make the project a reality. Over the next several years, Field raised money and worked with engineers to develop a cable that could transmit messages across the Atlantic Ocean. The project faced numerous setbacks and failures, but Field persisted, eventually succeeding in laying the first successful transatlantic cable in 1866.

Field's achievement in creating the transatlantic telegraph cable had a significant impact on global communications, allowing for near-instant communication between Europe and North America for the first time. #simplegears #amiralzubi #entrepreneurship #entrepreneur #childrensbook #unschooling #kids #children #homeschooling #parents #parenting
